Greetings all.

As we look ahead to another festive season, it’s a good excuse to have a bit of light relief from the only thing that is more relentless than the weather – everyone TALKING about the weather!

As I finish this newsletter Armidale is surrounded by fire devastation and I do hope people are managing with the increasing levels of anxiety, heat and smoke haze. I would ask that everyone remembers to stay well hydrated & to check in with your friends and neighbours regularly – as a community we can all work together to stay safe this summer.

As the front page indicates, we are having a little Christmas Party on Tuesday 10th December – everyone is welcome but PLEASE RSVP so we have enough food prepared!

We will be closed for three days at Christmas time – Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th and again on Wed. 1st January for New Years Day .

These dates will all be clearly marked on menus for our customers so they can order extra frozen meals if they are going to be home over this period.

It is with great sadness that we farewell Melissa from her Administration role which she has held for over 5 years. She has been such a valuable part of the team here in so many ways—too many to list! We wish her and her family all the best in their return to Tasmania.

Mel’s replacement Tanya has hit the ground running as there is a lot to learn in this role. We hope you will help us welcome Tanya to the organisation.

It’s been a busy few months catching up with some capital purchases and overdue updates! I’d like to thank Hardman Nissan for the smooth trade-in transition to the new X-Trail which AOK signs have decorated beautifully; thanks also Paul Halloran of Bushman Tanks who gave us a generous deal on our two 5,000L water tanks, much of the cost of which has been covered by a donation from the Armidale Branch of CWA; we also have some new chairs arriving to use in our dining room. We have been saving for these for a few years and hope that the new chairs will provide comfort and safe seating to our visitors and for those who use our facility for functions.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our very special customers and our valued volunteers a wonderful festive season, on behalf of all the team here at Meals on Wheels.
